State Energy Jobs

While the State of California will be laying off employees in some areas, others will be hiring. The Energy Commission will be adding some positions. As with most government jobs, candidates must first take an exam. If successful, the person's name will be placed on a ranked list that shows they are eligible to compete for a position. (As long as the application is mailed with a postmark of that date, it is supposed to be accepted.)
Based on my experience in working for the state, applicants should fill out the application completely and do NOT write "see resume" and attach one. A cover letter is good business practice, but nothing from the cover letter will be carried over in the exam evaluation. Keep a copy of your application. but DON"T submit the copy. Each application needs an original signature. Links to more exam information are at the end of this e-mail.Energy Analyst Exam, Minimum qualificaqtionsEducation: Equivalent to graduation from college with a major in ecology, energy, environment, energy economics, statistics, operations research, planning, land use, engineering, geology, physical or biological science, or a closely related energy field. (Registration as a senior in a recognized institution will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation or its equivalent before they can be considered eligible for appointment.) (Work experience performing technical energy related duties may be substituted for the required education with one year of experience being equal to one year of education.)begin accepting applications again in August.http://jobs.spb.ca.gov/openxrd.cfm?exc=6ERABhttp://www.dpa.ca.gov/textdocs/specs/s5/s5837.txt

Summer Schedule

Dear Friends,
Hope you are all having a nice summer. Thank you so much for your support and attendance to Connect. However since Graduation we are experiencing low attendance and we are thinking a "Summer Schedule" is in order. Starting July we will be postponing Connect workshops until September when school resumes. However we will continue to post job opportunities that come up and do one on one meetings as needed and maintain the blogspot. (you may blog whenever you choose)

We sent a list of speakers for the month and our next speaker, Cynthia Arregui, Certified Etiquette Consultant is scheduled for June 16th. I am asking for an R.S.V.P. by June 10th if you are planning on attending. We very much appreciate our speakers that are volunteering a service they are normally well paid to perform and we want to make sure we have a full group when they speak. Please notify me at faithparks@gmail.com if you plan to attend as we may br cancelling this until September as well.

Hope you all are well and enjoying our amazing weather.

Kindest regards,
Faith Parks
